The Faith that Moved Jesus

The Faith of the Centurion-(Matthew 8:5-9) - When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help.

Author: Evangelist Daniel Sushanth

Advancements in technology have led to widespread digitalization, improving various fields. Computers, gadgets, and apps are now integral to our routines, making life more convenient. Online accessibility has transformed tasks from groceries to banking. This luxury and ease were unimaginable to our internet-less ancestors.

Telemedicine enables remote consultations, eliminating the need for physical clinic visits. With a valid prescription, medications can be conveniently ordered online.

The Centurion in ancient Rome had remarkable faith in Jesus and believed that Jesus could heal his servant suffering from Palsy. He displayed unwavering faith and compared Jesus’ authority to his own over soldiers and servants. The Centurion’s faith inspires us with its remarkable conviction, reminding us of the power and possibilities of faith.

In comparison, many might feel that their faith today falls short of the Centurion’s conviction. Nevertheless, the story serves as a timeless reminder of the profound impact of faith and the possibilities it can unlock in our lives. It encourages us to reflect on our own beliefs and consider how faith can shape our experiences and interactions in the modern world.

The centurion’s statement, “Just say the word, and my servant will be healed,” highlights the simplicity of genuine faith. He didn’t demand elaborate rituals or signs; he simply believed that Jesus’ word was enough to bring about the healing. Faith doesn’t need to be complicated; it requires sincere trust in God’s promises.

Genuine faith captures God’s attention and impacts our relationship with Him. The centurion’s faith transcends barriers and enables divine intervention.

The centurion’s story teaches us about true faith’s qualities and its impact on our relationship with Jesus.

Inspiring True Story

Desmond Doss’ unwavering faith and dedication to his principles were exemplified during the Battle of Okinawa in 1945. Despite opposition and ridicule, Doss, a devout Seventh-day Adventist, refused to carry a weapon or participate in combat due to his belief in the commandment “Thou shalt not kill.” As a combat medic, he displayed remarkable bravery and selflessness by repeatedly putting his own life at risk to save wounded soldiers.

Doss’s actions were awe-inspiring, as he single-handedly evacuated 75 injured men from the battlefield, carefully lowering them down a steep cliff while under enemy fire. His courage and commitment earned him the respect and admiration of his comrades, who witnessed his unwavering faith in the face of danger.

Doss’s exceptional acts of valour and compassion did not go unnoticed. He became the first conscientious objector to receive the Medal of Honor, the highest military honour in the United States. This recognition serves as a testament to his extraordinary sacrifices and highlights how his faith guided him to prioritize the well-being of others even in the most challenging circumstances.

Desmond Doss’s story continues to inspire others to stand firm in their beliefs and principles, demonstrating that faith can lead to acts of great courage and love. His example is a powerful reminder of the strength of conviction and the capacity for individuals to make a difference in the lives of others, even in the midst of conflict and adversity.

Prayer : Our Heavenly Father, Thank you for the reminder of the centurion’s faith. Help us to trust in Your authority and promises and strengthen our faith to overcome limitations. May our faith be a guiding light in our lives, leading us closer to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
