Spiritual Nourishment!

Jesus the Bread of Life - (John 6:25-27) - Do not work for food that spoils,

Author: Evangelist Daniel Sushanth

In John 6:25-27, Jesus teaches about the “Bread of Life” after feeding the crowd of 5,000 with a few loaves of bread and fish.

Jesus advises not to focus on temporary physical sustenance but seek eternal life through nourishing spiritual connection with God. Jesus refers to Himself as the “Son of Man,” emphasizing His divinity and unique role as the provider of spiritual nourishment. This title signifies His authority as the source of eternal life and God’s endorsement of His identity.

Bread was a staple of human sustenance throughout history. During Roman times, bread was made from wheat, ground into flour, kneaded, shaped, and baked. Leavening agents and bread quality varied among social classes.

Bread offers comfort and nourishment during challenging times. Jesus, the “Bread of Life,” provides spiritual nourishment that lasts forever. Bread holds a special place in our hearts and memories and is commonly served  in continental breakfasts with delightful spreads like jams and butter.

Bread-making techniques have evolved significantly in the modern world, including the use of commercial yeast, high-capacity mixers, faster fermentation, precise oven technology, mass production, efficient packaging, and a wide variety of bread types.

Jesus, the “Bread of Life,” offers eternal satisfaction and a deep connection with God, transcending the temporary pleasures of this world.

Let us seek the enduring nourishment of a relationship with Jesus, finding in Him purpose, meaning, and fulfilment, as we break bread and feast on the “Bread of Life” satisfies our hearts and souls.

Through faith in Jesus, we find fulfilment in this life and the promise of eternal life with Him. The soft buns remind us of Jesus as the “Bread of Life,” satisfying our deepest longings.

Prayer : Our Heavenly Father, We come before you with gratitude for the physical bread that sustains our bodies and the spiritual bread of your Son, Jesus, that nourishes our souls. As we enjoy the diverse flavors of bread from around the world, may it remind us of your enduring love and grace. Strengthen our faith, and lead us to extend forgiveness and love to others as He did. Guide us to seek both physical and spiritual nourishment, finding fulfillment in this life and the promise of eternal life with Jesus. Amen.
