A Year of Opportunities and Transformation-2024

2 Corinthians -(5:17) "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

The new creation has come…” It’s not just a superficial modification but a complete transformation, like becoming a new person.

“The old has gone, the new is here!” – The ‘old’ refers to the previous state of being, marked by sin and separation from God. The ‘new’ signifies the restored relationship with God and a renewed, righteous life through Christ.

Entering the new year 2024, I urge believers to reflect on the transformative power of faith. It’s an invitation to leave behind the old ways, embrace the forgiveness and grace offered through Christ, walk in the newness of life that comes with being a follower of Jesus, and strive to live by the teachings of the Bible.

In our journey, we may encounter storms and turbulent seas, but God is our anchor and refuge. As the psalmist declares in Psalm 18:2, “The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

Also, let us not forget that our journey is not solitary. We have fellow travelers, our brothers, and sisters in Christ. Let us encourage one another, sharing our burdens and joys, and together, we will weather any storm.

As we reflect on the past and set our course for the future, let us commit to spending time in prayer and seeking God’s guidance. The ship of our lives may be small in comparison to the vastness of the sea, but with God as our Captain, we can navigate the waters with confidence.

As we stand on the threshold of a new year 2024, the turning of the calendar invites us to reflect on the journey we have traveled. We recall the major events that have left a permanent mark on our lives, yet the everyday moments often slip away, lost in the constant flow of time. Our reliance on temporary storage, whether through social media platforms or physical devices (hard drives/USB), underscores the short-lived nature of our worldly records.

The story of the Rich Man and Lazarus serves as a touching reminder of the dire consequences of neglecting the spiritual dimension of our lives. The rich man tormented in hell yearned to warn his brethren about the harsh reality of the afterlife. Similarly, we must not allow ourselves to be blinded by personal indulgences and addictions. Time, a currency more valuable than gold, cannot be bought or rewound.

Think of the mountain climber who confidently aimed for the summit but faced an unforeseen avalanche, abruptly ending his journey. Tomorrow is not guaranteed, and the fleeting nature of time implores us to act today, not postponing God’s assignments for a more convenient moment.

Let us resolve not to waste our lives on transient pleasures but instead prioritize the eternal. Time is ticking away, and our call to action is clear. Reach out to God, prioritize His assignments, and engrain the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus in your hearts.

May we not be like the Rich Man, realizing too late the consequences of neglecting our spiritual path. Instead, let us live with purpose, urgency, and a steadfast commitment to God’s will, both in the coming year 2024 and beyond.

May this new year be a season of drawing closer to God, growing in faith, and reflecting His light to those around us. Remember, just as the stars navigate sailors in the night, God’s Word is a lamp to our feet, illuminating the path ahead (Psalm 119:105).

So, let us embark on this new year with hope, anchored in faith, and guided by the eternal compass of God’s love. Today and tomorrow, let our actions be a testament to our commitment to God’s will, for in Him, we find purpose and everlasting joy.

Wishing you all a happy and blessed New Year – 2024.

In the service of Christ with love
