Overcoming Pride: Find Strength in Humility

Mark 10:45, Jesus said, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."

Author: Evangelist Sushanth Daniel

Pride has a subtle way of creeping into our hearts, blinding us to our dependence on God. It tempts us to rely on our own strength, wisdom, and accomplishments, often leading to spiritual downfall. But true strength is found in humility—recognizing our need for God and surrendering to His will. As we reflect on our lives, let’s ask ourselves: Where is pride taking root? Is it in our achievements, our relationships, or even our spiritual lives? Let’s invite God to search our hearts and replace pride with a spirit of humility and trust in Him.

True greatness, as Jesus taught us, is not measured by self-exaltation or worldly success, but by a heart that serves others in love. In Mark 10:45, Jesus said, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” He modeled the ultimate example of humility, laying aside His glory to serve humanity and fulfill the Father’s plan.

Today, let’s follow His example. Let’s seek opportunities to serve others selflessly, not for recognition or praise, but out of love for God and those around us. As we humble ourselves before the Lord, He will lift us up in His perfect timing (James 4:10).

Reflection Question:
What is one practical way you can serve someone today, putting their needs above your own?

Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, search my heart and reveal any areas where pride has taken root. Teach me to walk in humility, trusting in Your strength and wisdom rather than my own. Help me to serve others with a selfless heart, just as Jesus did. May my life reflect Your love and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.. – In Jesus’ name, Amen.
